In India, our tradition of selfless service runs deep. From pilgrims’ houses to shelters and orphanages, numerous philanthropic institutions assist the needy. This legacy highlights the importance of sharing resources with those less fortunate—a tradition we’re dedicated to upholding. Let’s carry forward this noble tradition of philanthropy, enriching lives in our communities and beyond.
Since 2004, Aarathy Trust’s founders actively volunteered at Chennai’s shelter homes, inspiring the establishment of Aarathy Charitable Trust and the Idhaya Vaasal Elders Home in January 2008. Founded by the late S. Parthasarathy, fondly called Service Sarathy, the home embodies his dedication to service, inspiring youths in social welfare. Today, it stands as a tribute to his legacy.
The Idhaya Vaasal Elders Home is a leading elderly care facility in Chennai, part of Aarathy Trust’s broad humanitarian initiatives. Beyond elderly care, we’re active in environmental, health, and educational programs. We provide shelter and care to destitute elders rescued from the streets, and offer support to impoverished patients referred by NGOs and relatives. Regardless of background, all elders receive compassionate medical attention and proper care. Currently, our home hosts 40 residents, including 13 who require specialized bed care.
